The Idea: More Rooms, More Style, Less Space
QT Hotel on the Gold Coast wanted to push the boundaries of boutique accommodation.
With space at a premium, they had a bold idea: transform the rooftop of the hotel into a collection of luxury compact homes—offering guests a unique stay with stunning views and outdoor charm.
Our Challenge: Build Six Luxury Cabins… on a Rooftop.
QT needed more than just stylish small dwellings.
These homes had to be:
- Beautifully designed inside and out
- Fully functional, with all the comforts of a hotel suite
- Lightweight yet strong enough to be craned two floors up.
- Fitted into a rooftop layout with shared green space and privacy features.
- Customised to reflect the QT brand and aesthetic.
Oh, and one of the homes needed to be fully wheelchair accessible.
Our Approach: Design, Engineer, Crane, and Finish
We worked closely with QT Hotel from concept to completion.
Our team:
- Custom-designed six bespoke compact homes to suit the rooftop site.
- Engineered each structure to meet the unique weight and wind requirements.
- Installed high-end interior features—coffee machines, AC, mini fridges, storage, sensor lights, and private decks.
- Matched the exterior style to the hotel’s beach-inspired design.
- Included one unit with full wheelchair accessibility, proving that compact can also mean inclusive.
- Coordinated the precision crane lift of each home onto the rooftop.
The homes were installed around a shared green courtyard featuring a fire pit and communal kitchen, creating an immersive guest experience with a glamping-style twist—right in the city.

QT Hotel now offers guests a one-of-a-kind rooftop getaway with luxury compact homes that blend design, comfort, and creative use of space.
